The William McLeod you mention appears to be he in Studholme (Studholm) Parish, Kings Co., NB in 1851 as:
McLeod William M Head 48 Irish Farmer Birth
McLeod Mary A F Wife 38 Birth
McLeod Robert M Son 22 Birth
McLeod Elizabeth F Daughter 18 Birth
McLeod Edward M Son 20 Birth
McLeod Albert M Son 10 Birth
McLeod Wilford M Son 5 Birth
McLeod George M Son 3 Birth
According to this William was b. NB and Irish.
There were 51 McLeod's in the Parish in 1851, with the eldest being Robert? (80) and Elizabeth (71) McLeod. Robert is given as born in Newfoundland and arrived in 1780. A William McLeod, also b. Newfoundland ca. 1766, d. Sussex Vale, Kings Co., NB 2APR1856 age 88 years. He came to NB in the early part of the American Revolution (i.e., ca. 1780), and had been in Sussex Vale for 40 years (since ca. 1816). It would appear that William (ca. 1766) and Robert (ca. 1771) may have been brothers arriving with their parents. An Albert McLeod (ca. 1834-22APR1850) was the son of William McLeod, Jr. The latter appears to be the s/o William b. ca. 1766. Therefore, William, in Studholm Parish in 1851, who had a son, Albert, still living, was not William, Jr. Robert McLeod of Studholm Parish d. 13APR1856 age 85 years (b. ca. 1771), and was specifically stated to be William McLeod's (of Sussex Parish) brother. It begins to seem that William (ca. 1803) was Robert's son. Robert died on his 85th birthday so he was b. Newfoundland 13APR1771.
There was also in Studholm Parish in 1851 a widow, 'Jennet' McLeod, b. Scotland ca. 1787, arrived in 1817.
George b. ca. 1848 would appear to have been George William McLeod b. 16JUN1848, d. Hampton Parish, Kings Co., NB 16NOV1932 age 84 years and 5 months. He was the s/o William and Mary Ann (Lindon) McLeod. When William McLeod m. JAN1838 Mary Ann Linden, they were both from Sussex Parish, Kings Co., NB. Studholm Parish was part of Sussex Parish until 1840.
A Wilford McLeod m. Studholm Parish 21APR1847 Eliza Ann Johnston, d/o David Johnston. The transcription of the 1851 census gives him as 'Milford' McLeod b. NB ca. 1818, He lived next to Robert? and Elizabeth mentioned above. Robert? McLeod is actually "Robert McLeod Senr." with, on the other side, "Robert McLeod Junr" b. ca. 1816. Wilford McLeod d. Studholm Parish of typhoid 1NOV1864 age 46 years.
So far, this appears to be the family described at the New Brunswick Genealogical Society web site, "First Families", as:

You do not mention a location, so perhaps this is not the family you seek. It seems to be the same family as Robt. E. McLeod b. ca. 1829 lived in Studholm Parish in 1881. His wife was Elizabeth (52) and daughters were Alice J. (20) and Annie E. (15). This seems to be Robert b. ca. 1829, s/o William and Mary Ann (Lindon./Linden) McLeod in 1851. Alice Jane McLeod m. Finnamore Melbourne McLeod (a cousin?). Annie Elizabeth McLeod m. Jesse Thomas Prescott. Annie E. Prescott (7FEB1865-11APR1945) was the d/o Robert E. and Elizabeth (Roach) McLeod. 'Jessie' Thomas Prescott (23JUN1863-25SEP1943) was from Charlotte Co., NB and the s/o Joshua and Susan (Justason) Prescott.
So far, the William who almost certainly was the father of Robert E. McLeod did not marry Mary Ann Clark but m. Mary Ann Linden/Lindon. Also William, father of Robert E. McLeod was not b. Sutherlandshire, but was b. NB. Robert's daughter, Annie Elizabeth McLeod, did not m. James Thomas Prescott but m. Jesse Thomas Prescott. I am not sure if this should be carried further.
Members of this family appear to be buried in the Lower Millstream Baptist (Lester) Cemetery, in Kings Co., NB. William, rather than dying ca. 1856, d. AUG1882 age 79 years and 8 months.
Let me know if you have questions.
Thomas.
