George Logan and Deborah Ann Flewelling
Hi.
I do have very specific ideas on whom the parents of George Logan and Deborah Ann Flewwelling were. It is theoretical, but the Flewelling/Flewwelling family is one of my specialities and I make my conjectures from a fairly extensive overview.
With George, I am a little less certain, but only because I have studied the Logan's less extensively. Fundamentally I have:
43438J. DEBORAH ANN FLEWWELLING
Deborah Ann Flewwelling, m. George Logan (b. Land's End, Westfield Parish, Kings Co., NB ca. 1822, d. Millidgeville, NB 10AUG1886.)
There was a George Logan b. NB ca. 1822 in Ward 5, Portland, Saint John Co., NB in 1881. He was a widower with two sons, Stephen (ca. 1860) and Frederick (ca. 1865.) Possibly he was George Hutchinson Logan bpt. Westfield Parish, Kings Co., NB MAR1825, s/o Robert A. and Catharine Logan.
Frederick W. Logan's funeral record names his mother to be 'Debra' Ann Flewelling. As it stands, Deborah Flewwelling, daughter of Thomas and Mary Flewwelling, is the only Deborah who might have been George's wife. A process of elimination makes it highly likely that 'Debra' Ann and Deborah were the same person. Add to this George's origins in Westfield Parish, on the Kingston Peninsula, and the probability that he was George Hutchinson Logan, baptized Westfield Parish, Kings Co., NB MAR1825, s/o Robert A. and Catherine Logan where Robert A. is almost certainly the brother of William Logan, Charles Logan and Joseph Logan who married Deborah's sisters and the probability becomes even higher. I assume, then, that George's wife was the d/o Thomas and Mary Flewwelling; but I am still uncertain as to whether George was George Hutchinson Logan, although he almost must be.
Children:
438J1. GEORGE A. LOGAN b. ca. 1856, m. HATTIE JAMES? (b. ca. 1861.)
In 1881, in the same house but as a separate household to George Logan, George Logan (25) had a wife, Hattie (20) and son, Arthur (3.) there were also Sarah James (30) and Berryman James (10), whom I guess were Hattie's siblings
438J2. STEPHEN ALEXANDER LOGAN b. Millidgeville, NB MAR1859 (ca. 1862-4), m. 1st MARGARET O'BRIAN (b. ca. 1860); m. 2nd 272 Princess St., Saint John, Saint John Co., NB 7AUG1894 PHOEBE AUGUSTA (GUSSY) DUCEY (b. Wickham Parish, Queens Co., NB JUN1869, d. 9 Orange St., Saint John, Saint John Co., NB 9DEC1950 age 81 years, buried Cedar hill Cemetery, Saint John, Saint John Co., NB), d/o John (or William) and Matilda (MacDonald) Ducey/Doucey
438J3. CHARLES A. LOGAN b. Saint John Co., NB 24MAR1864, d. 4 Wellington Row, Saint John, Saint John Co., NB 9OCT1920 age 56 years, 6 months and 15 days, buried Cedar Hill Cemetery, Saint John, Saint John Co., NB.
Charles, like his brother, Frederick, worked for the water department. The informant on his death record was a sister, Miss Flewelling. It seems unlikely that he would have an unmarried sister surnamed Flewelling, so I am assuming, for the moment, that a sister married a Flewelling.
438J4. FREDERICK WELSFORD LOGAN b. Saint John, Saint John Co., NB 24 ca. 1863-7, d. Loch Lomond Road, Saint John, Saint John Co., NB 18NOV1943 age 76 years, buried Greenwood Cemetery, Saint John Co., NB, m. MARGARET GERTRUDE LOGAN (b. 14OCT ca. 1871)
438J5. daughter?, m. _____ FLEWELLING
This was added rather hastily and fairly recently, so any additions you wish to make would be welcome.
