In Reply to: maryann Dixon born 1824,married howard Douglas, by heidi Russell of 4934

Probably the parents of Mary Ann (Dixon) Douglas are Henry (b. ca. 1798) and Margaret (Gordon) (ca. 1802) Dixon, also in St. James Parish, Charlotte Co., NB in 1851. Children were Margaret (19), Henry W. (13) and Sarah W. (9.) Henry and Margaret were Irish, he was a tailor and both arrived in 1823. The children were b. NB.

According to a death notice, Henry Dixon (of St. Stephen, Charlotte Co., NB) was b. Clough (town of Kilkeel), County Down, Ireland ca. APR1798, d. St. Stephen 7SEP1883 age 85 years and 5 months, and had been in Charlotte Co. for 64 years (ca. 1819) and in St. Stephen for 40 years. He was on his way to buy a ticket for the Orange Lodge picnic. when he died. Margaret d. St. Stephen 10FEB1875 age 72 years.

The family was in St. Stephen Parish in the 1871 census when Henry was age 72 and Margaret was 68. Both were b. Ireland, Presbyterian and Scottish. Their daughter, Nancy was a tailoress. Children were Margaret (40), Nancy (38), Robert (11) and Henry (28.) There was also a Mary A. Dixon b. ca. 1824 living in St. Stephen, but she seems unrelated. For example, she was Church of England, single and English.

Henry Dixon, b. Ireland ca. 1799, was still a tailor in St. Stephen Parish in 1881, as was his son, Henry W. (42.) Also with him was his daughter, Margaret (44.)

According to the 1901 census of St. James Parish, Mary A. Douglas was b. 1MAR1824. While there were other Dixon/Dickson families about, that of Henry and Margaret (Gordon) Dixon/Dickson is the only one that I can see that might be her parents.

Children:
1. MARGARET DIXON b. ca. 1831-2 (ca. 1837?)
2. NANCY DIXON b. ca. 1843
3. HENRY WILLIAM (WILLIAM HENRY) DIXON b. ca. MAY1841 (ca. 1838-43), d. St. Stephen, Charlotte Co., NB 8:00 a.m 15 (or 16 or 17)NOV1887 on his way to work at the firm of Leonard & Dixon, merchant tailors, St. Stephen, age 46 years and 6 months.
4. SARAH (NANCY) HENRIETTA DIXON b. 24MAY1842 (ca. 1842-3), bpt. Scotch Ridge Presbyterian Church, St. James Parish, Charlotte Co., NB by the Rev. John Reid 11AUG1842, m. Presbyterian Church, St. Stephen, Charlotte Co., NB by the Rev. P. M. Morrison 23MAY1867 FRANCIS (FRANK ) AALGAR (b. ca. 1840, d. St. Stephen 20NOV1922 age 82 years), s/o Thomas and Martha Algar.
5. ROBERT DIXON b. ca. 1860
