While I assume, based on your information, that Isaac B. Benson was a s/o Seth Benson (and it does seem likely) I was unable to find any evidence of that relationship. The following is what I did find, and some thoughts which I hope are useful. If Isaac B. Benson fought in the War of 1812, it is very likely he was in the 104th New Brunswick Fencible Regiment; which had a somewhat remarkable history. Not the least was its march in winter from Fredericton to Quebec City, losing only one man (an alcoholic apparently); a feat which drew praise from the Duke of Wellington. Parnell Benson received a pension as a soldier or the widow of a soldier in the Revolutionary War. From associated names, Parnell was in Kings Co., NB, where I believe Gondola Point was also. Specifically, I believe Gondola Point was on or across the river from the Kingston Peninsula between the Kennebecasis and Saint John rivers. In one case, a note has Parnell’s X on it, with the words, ‘Her Mark’ suggesting Parnell may have been Seth Benson’s widow. The note asks that her pension be given to Elnathan Benson, presumably her son (given as Seth’s brother.) In 1848, Parnell was in Springfield Parish, Kings Co., NB, and was age 85, so b. ca. 1763. In 1849, she was age 86 years in in 1850 age 87. In 1843 she was age 75 years. She was last reported to receive a pension in 1851. There appear to have been several Benson Loyalists. An Isaac Benson, for example, petitioned for land in York Co., NB as early as 1785. He seems to have been associated with the Prince of Wales Regiment, a Loyalist regiment raised largely in the Connecticut-New York area about 1777. In 1859 and Isaac Benson petitioned for land in Queens Co., NB. This may be your Isaac. Seth Benson and Rufus Green petitioned for land in Kings Co., NB in 1787. Seth Benson, Rufus Greene and a number of others petitioned in Kings Co. in 1791. Richard H. Benson refers to, “The Benson Family of Colonial Massachusetts”, Newbury Press of the New England Historical and Genealogical Society, pp. 254-6, which mentions the family of Seth Stutson and Parnel (Brown) Benson. A son is given as Daniel Brown Benson. Elnathan Benson m. Ruth Hammond. SETH STUTSON BENSON (s/o William and Elizabeth (Ellis) Benson) b. Fredericksburgh, Dutchess Co., NY ca. 1761 (or Rochester, Plymouth Co., MA ca. 1756), d. 12SEP1812, m. PARNELL BROWN (b. ca. 1763.) Seth drowned in the Kennebecasis River, Kings Co., NB while attempting to transfer from a woodboat to a canoe which upset. As there were no roads to speak of, most travel was by rivers and streams, and drowning was not uncommon. Especially in winter when the ice proved unsafe. When administration of his estate was granted 19JUN1813 to Parnel Benson and John Waterbury, he was given as being of Hampton Parish. I assume Springfield Parish was set off from Hampton at a later date. See: http://www.jowest.net/Genealogy/Jo/Cary/Benson.htm children: 1. ISAAC B. Although given as d. 1864, at: http://ancestorsatrest.com/cemetery_records/western-maine.shtml he is given as d. 1863, which would give him as b. 1794 rather than 1795. A son may have been John Benson b. NB ca. 1819, with a wife, Eliza A. (b. ME ca. 1825) and a daughter, Sarah J. (ca. 1846.) They were in Lubec, Washington Co., ME in the 1850 census; and apparently in the 1860 census of Washington Co., as well. However, there was a Benson family just across the border in Charlotte Co., NB; whether related or not is not clear. an example is the 1910 census of Lubec at: http://members.tripod.com/~quoddybelle/LubecME1910cen.htm which has Benson’s. It also has Trecartin’s and Kierstead’s; both likely originally from Kings Co., NB; the Trecartin’s likely descendants of Martin Trecartin; some of whom went to Charlotte Co., NB. The Outhouse family was originally settled in 1783 in Nova Scotia, some went to NB where they were associated with the Cossaboom’s; also found in Lubec in 1910. It is clear that many of the names in Lubec in 1910 were NB Loyalist families, but in the case of the Benson’s, were they from Charlotte Co. or Kings Co.? 1st 11. THOMAS LaFORREST BENSON b. When his daughter, Margretta, is married in 1865, he is the ‘late’ Daniel B. Brown. Also, the death announcement was made simultaneously with that of his son, John. It appears as if he, his wife and son may have died about the same time of a common illness. A son may have been Daniel B. Benson whose wife, Mary J., was b. ca. 1859, and d. Collina, Kings Co., NB 12JUN1886 age 27 years, leaving her husband and two young children. This is likely the Daniel B. Benson of Belleisle who m. Sussex Parish, Kings Co., NB by the Rev. G. W. While a marriage announcement gives Joanna’s husband in 1849 as James E. Northrup, her headstone makes her the wife of Benjamin J. Northrup (b. 24APR1816, d. APR1901, bur. St. Simon and St. Jude’s Anglican Cem., Belleisle, Springfield Parish, Kings Co., NB.) Possibly Benjamin was a 2nd husband. This seems likely as, in the 1851 census of Springfield Parish, Benjamin was a widower. By 1881, Benjamin’s wife was ‘Joann’ b. ca. 1835. Benjamin James Northrup b. 24APR1816 was the s/o John Anson and Mary Ann (Cox) Northrup, and 1st m. 8DEC1839 Elizabeth Susannah Northrup (3APR1817-9APR1850), d/o William and Ann (Cox) Northrup. In APR1896 a daughter of Isaac Benson of Snider Mountain, Kings Co., NB, Mrs. Albert Perry, was killed by a train in Littletown, Massachusetts.
