Hello Debra:

I cannot tell you if there is a convent near Desjardins and LaSalle Streets. I have gone through the area several times but I have never lived there and cannot tell if there is a convent. There is probably one where you would have had non-boarding students. If her parents lived in Montréal, I cannot see her being a boarding student although it did happen. To my knowledge there is no orphanage in that area.

Death on 1 Oct 1910 in Ham-Nord; let me have a look with our new research tool. The province-wide death registry did not exist at the time but I now have the other option given that we have the name of town and the date.

Both addresses for Nicolas Galipeau were in Montréal in the former suburbs of Hochelaga and Maisonneuve.

Ham-Nord would be about 100 miles from Montréal.

Jean-Marie
