I don't know about the family history, but there is a "Cathcart Street" (rue Cathcart en français) in downtown Montréal. It's parallel to, and just south of, rue Ste-Catherine, the main street in downtown Montréal. Cathcart Street is on the north side of the square known as "Place Ville-Marie". Ville-Marie was the original name of Montréal when it was founded in 1642.
