charles F BLAIN 1910-14 marriage search

Looking for advice. Grandfather CHARLES FRANCIS BLAIN is known to have been in England in 1901. He is known to have been in Canada not far from Mount Royal in 1910. In 1914 he changed his name to LANE before coming back to England with CEF.He came back with a wife Margaret Winifred.
How can I find out if he was married in Canada? I cannot find this marriage in England.
I have looked at marriage indices, but am not in Canada to go to National Archives and search.
Any advice appreciated. I have no idea when he sailed to Canada, except it has to be after 1901 census in England. He was a cotton broker in England, but by 1914 he was a jounalist. I have his army records, but there is no info about his marriage. His address in 1914 was Montreal.
