In February 2004, the Catholic Church authories of Quebec have decreed that ALL information from church records (baptism, marriage, funeral & burial) is to remain CONFIDENTIAL in accordance with the Quebec Civil Code, articles 35 to 40, and with the Privacy Act. Certificates & extracts are to be given ONLY to the concerned persons. Info over the phone may be provided ONLY with the permission of the Chancery Office. NO photocopies may be made without the permission of the civil state following reception of a written request.
The observance of this decree is up to the priest responsible for the concerned parish or parishes.
Anyone wanting a FRENCH language copy of the article, may email me ( & I'll forward a JPG copy.
