Jim, I am so happy with this information - thank you so much for the marriage date of Elizabeth ALEXANDER AND the information re Mary BROWN. Your reply killed two birds with one stone. I knew David Clark COULL was married before, however, no one in the family knew who she was or whether he married in Scotland and then emigrated or met his wife on arrival in Montreal. David and Mary BROWN had 3 sons, Robert, Stanley and David. I would assume Elizabeth raised these three boys when Mary died.

This new information now may have a stronger Canadian connection than I thought. The IGI shows a marriage for a David COULL, 23 August 1890, Free Church of Scotland, in Ferryden, Parish of Craig, Angus, but shows no spouse. This could be another David COULL,however, as there were 100's of them in that area. He may well have emigrated as a bachelor and met and married Mary in Montreal.

As usual in genealogy, solve one problem and open another!

I'm most grateful. (I received your second posting.)
