Bonjour Jean-Marie,
Merci Beaucoup pour votre message! From the content of your message, I would guess that you are also descended from Charles Primeau II. As a favour to my friend in Peterborough, I am attempting to trace his ancestry, including his descent from Charles Primeau I & II.
Yesterday, after having looked through the genealogies contained in "Dictionnaire Genealogique Des Familles Canadiennes," I decided that Marie's maiden name was probably "Giard," rather than "Giara." However, "Girard" is also quite possible. For Charles Primeau I, I gave a possible birthdate of 1770-90, in case it turned out that Charles II was one of his youngest children. I agree that the focus of research should be on marriage record of Charles I. Since you have already checked for marriage records in Quebec, it seems logical to turn to Ontario. I have noted that the Ontario Archives here in Toronto has records of a number of Primeau families in the Cornwall area of Eastern Ontario close to Montreal. The Toronto Reference Library & the Library of the Ontario Genealogical Society have a good collection of parish records for Ontario as well as Quebec. I will be checking them out over the next few weeks. Can we please keep in touch? If you are a descendant of Charles Primeau I & II, then you have quite a number of cousins in the Peterborough area. If you would like to contact me directly, my Email address is: countcaragata@yahoo.com Cheers! Count Caragata
