The Bomhower surname has intrigued me to the point of doing some research in Québec.
Firstly, I wanted to find out if Bomhower was translation of a French-Canadian surname. Someone has suggested BONHEUR (Happiness).
Bohémier did not produce successful results.
Major Québec-wide marriage repertories and databases dit not reveal a marriage record for neither:
Ernest and Élisabeth and neither for the parents of Ernest or Élisabeth.
Surprising because the surname Rousseau, Lazure and Gervais are typical French-Canadian surnames.
I have found marriage records for a few Bomhower in Chateauguay area (SW of Montréal) but none related to Ernest. Also a few in Northern Ontario. No luck again.
Was Bomhower of german origin?
Would these people been Roman Catholic or did they belong to another faith?
Any more leads?
