WHITE family in Montreal circa 1834

I have only a very small hope that someone will be able to reply to this message: in 1834, our ancestor Christopher JULIAN arrived in Canada with his wife and 5 children. His wife died of cholera and is buried on Grosse Isle. His daughter, Lucy Anne, survived the disease, but was too weak to travel beyond Montreal. There CJ left her with her "uncle and cousins" and only referred to "my brother-in-law", never mentioning a name. If it was his wife's brother, the surname would have been "WHITE", originally from Port Arlington in Ireland. It would be wonderful to discover that we had "cousins" in Montreal....I know this is a far-fetched request...would anyone have any suggestions as to where I might look/enquire? I think it was too early for a census. Thank you
Vera Reed
