Robert CRUIKSHANK was a silversmith of Montreal in the 18th Century to 1809.

He died at sea off Portsmouth, England, when returning to Canada after visiting his nephew another Robert CRUIKSHANK in Gosport, Hampshire, England in 1809.

The English Robert b 1787 Jamaica, wrote to his female cousin re the death, bemoaning the sale of Jamaican estates fater their grandfather's death, intestate.

English Robert, a very succesful solicitor of Gosport married in 1807 at Fareham, my ancestress Ann BARNEY dau of the Town Clerk of Portsmouth, Stephen BARNEY of Lysses House, Fareham, Hampshire.
