Vadnais family from Montreal

Seeking information on my great-great-great grandfather. He was born in 1831, his name is Maurice Vadnais. The only information that I have is that his father's name may have been Joseph (death certificates are not completely accurate as you know.). He came to Michigan in the mid to late 1850's. He is on the 1860 census of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. I believe that he married in the United States, but have not been able to confirm it. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
thank you,
Amy B.
