I was asking my Dad about your posting as it caought my eye...These are his comments: There are records at Isle aux Noix on the Richelieu about the people who were transported. Sorry I can't give you a reference to a history of the period, but your local library should have something on the Patriote (PAPINEAU) rebellion, as it is referred to here. The Canadian National Archives would have info. Isle Aux Noix is part of Parks Canada ( part of our National Park sites, that can be historical or wild life in nature). I would assume a web site, and probably an e-mail address for the fort - whose name I can't remember! If I remember rightly, some of the transported came back - including one Roman priest, to Quebec.

hope this helps a wee bit

Susan
