Hi Neil Thanks for that information!.Yes he did go to Repton and Cambridge. I later found out that he married in 1912 in Montreal. My message was posted several years ago.He lived in Sale with his first wife, whom he left not long after she gave birth to their son. I imagine he changed his name to save his family embarrassment at his scandalous behaviour! or perhaps to avoid his wife tracing him, but she managed it anyway. I knew he was on the first eleven at Repton. He played cricket and football. I have a couple of pics of him I could email you. One of which is not very clear was taken in the backwoods of Canada. The other a bit clearer was taken in 1916 in London. He stayed in England after the war, and was living in Cheadle Cheshire in 1944. He kept the name Lane, and turned to Golf for his sport. I hope your research of the cricket club is going well. Should you discover anything else,I would be glad to hear it. Notify Administrator about this message?
