I have looked carefully at the 'consolidated deaths index'
for Quebec covering 1926 to 1996.
...
NO william L. McKAY in the index.
But 3 William MCKAY.
1) born in 1847 died 1929/9/17 in Lingwick
2) born in 1906 died 1931/6/14 in St-Louis de Gonzague
3) born in 1853 died 1930/9/21 in Waterloo
...
None of them matched your info.
...
I have checked also 'ancestry'.
Only the one in 1930 was given.
...
