Help With Montreal ANQ and Mun. Library?
Posted by: Ted Lunny Date: October 22, 2000 at 16:31:46

My ancestors (Lunny) are from the Montreal area, landing in 1850. I'm interested in getting address or directory information for the period 1850-1900. I understand that the Montreal Municipal Library at 1200 Sherbrooke st east has a good selection of genealogical resoures. Can anyone tell me when this site is open and what may be available? I cannot seem to find a website.
Also, I have dealt with the Archives National de Quebec from arm's length, ordering birth certificate etc. Can anyone tell me what to expect there if I go in person. Do they have an english website?
Last, the Quebec Family History Society has annual memberships available but since I'm on the west coast, I'm wondering if the expenditure would be worth it. If anyone is familiar with this organization, I'd appreciate any comments?
Thanks in advance,
