In what parish did they live in 1871 (Montreal) and what were the names of ages of the parents and children in that household? By locating the baptism records of the earlier children, you might be able to pin down a location for the marriage.

I did find a marriage of Michael Burns to Bridget Donahoe in 1854 in St-Roch, near Quebec City, and they did end up in Montreal by 1881. Do you know where your Michael/Bridget were living at the time of the 1881 census?
