A week or so ago I had tried to use the former free database lookup and found it would not work, so I was pleased to find your explanation of why it would not. I took your suggestion and e-mailed the cemetery, letting them know my disappointment. I received a reply soon afterward in which they stated that they had many technical problems with the database portion of their website that has caused them to remove it from the site. They said they are planning on launching a new website in 2010 and will revisit the possibility of having a searchable database. In the interim, they suggested one fill in and submit the online form for the person you are looking for and they will send a response via email. You may have received a similar explanation.
I did fill in the form for a name of my interest and received a reply soon afterward with the information they had. I realize this process will not be very convenient if you look for many people during the week. But it may be helpful to you now and then. And, yes, if others let them know how valuable the former database search had been, perhaps it will encourage them to try to design something like it when they redo the website in 2010.
