Thank you so much Muriel for your most helpful information. I will try to continue the search through the Notre Dame church in Montreal for records regarding the children of Maxime Brisebois. (Obviously, the Jean Marie Brisebois you found is not my Dad, but the family of Maxime may show some possibility). It is also possible that my Dad's name was Rejean? At first my Mum said my Dad's bname was Jean Louis, then about a decade later, she said Jean Marie. Not sure here.
As I am living in Australia, if you have any suggestions as to what authorities I may be able to contact, I would be interested in any suggestions you may have to offer.
One question...I am assuming that the records you searched are only for Quebec. If so is appears that I would have to then contact researchers in every province? This seems a likely scenario.
