Hi Nycole,

As per the 1891 census, Hugh was Mary's husband. This census shows Jessie & Duncan as well. I believe the 1901 census does not show them as neighbours, but as living in the same household. Catherine would be Mary's mother & the others are her brothers.

I can't seem to find where Hugh went. It is suggested that he might have left & started another family. This being the potential "dirty family secret".

Alex Fraser, who has written refere ncebooks on genealogy in the area is looking to see if his headstone is there.
