Hi Barbara, thank you for the info. I have seen some of this on the different forums and I think it is an ancestor of mine, but have not found what I need in the 1800s with my Gareau and I need to do that before I can get back that far. It is also curious the Xaintonge spelling you have seen, that is a new one on me. Maybe my Joseph is hiding under that spelling !!? Sorry about your favorites, that has happened to me and what a pain to lose that. I have seen the Laliberte, and had read that some moved to the states as Freeman, is this with your husbands? I am always appreciative of any information sent my way to help me in finding my Gareau, so if you get the chance let me know what you have seen on them. Thank you so much, Kristin
