Looking for A Montreal Birth Record-1868
Posted by: Ginny Sikes (ID *****0198) Date: May 29, 2007 at 15:41:36

I've been trying to find a record of my grandfather's birth. I know he was born in Montreal area in either 1868 or 1869. His name was Christian William Forbes. His father, Archibald Christian Forbes, moved to Montreal from England(or possibly Scotland) to work(possibly teach) at McGill U. in the mid-1860s, 1867 at the earliest. I believe they were either Church of Scotland(Presbyterian) or Anglican, but cannot find any records of my grandfather's birth. I don't know his mother's name, either, since his father later remarried. Since this was not a permanent move, I wondered if the birth might be registered with the UK. But surely there is some record in Montreal. Any help/advice would be much appreciated. I can be reached at ginsik1@hotmail.com. Thanks, Ginny
