Hello,

You probably have this information already, however, I am posting here what I found for your James 'Mosealous' and wife Abby.

As of April 1881, your people were living in Brooke Lambton, Ontario Canada. The last name was recorded as 'Moselles'.

James Moselles, born 1846 USA, labourer, Ethnic Origin : African, Religion : Church of England.

Abby Moselles, born 1847 Germany, wife of James Moselles, Ethnic Origin : German, Religion : Church of England.

Hattie Moselles, born 1871 Ontario, Ethnic Origin : African, Religion : Church of England.

Laura Moselles, born 1873 Ontario, Ethnic Origin : African, Religion : Church of England.

Lonzo Moselles, born 1876 Ontario, Ethnic Origin : African, Religion : Church of England.

Carrie Moselles, born 1880 Ontario, Ethnic Origin : African, Religion : Church of England.

Also on the 1901 Census for Ontario Canada found one 'Mosls' family. These people are probably related to the above, but the spelling of their names drifted from Mozealous to Moselles and then Mosls...

1901 Census for Wallaceburg BOTHWELL, ONTARIO found John Mosls (born Ontario 1843) and wife Christina (born Ontario 1841) along with one son and and three grandsons.

At least, this gives you more places to look and additional clues for others to help you.

Best of luck,

Esther
