McKenzie Rothwell and Carden Surnames
Posted by: B Reynaert (ID *****7092) Date: January 17, 2007 at 08:33:08

Greetings
My great grandmother Eleanor Louise McKenzie married Edward Henry Rothwell and she died giving birth to my grandmother on March 12 1897 at sea, five days before arriving in Montreal. Edward Henry Rothwell died aboard his boat in Montreal harbour c 1901-1910. My Grandmother said Edward was a master and may have been part owner of this British Boat. My Grandmother spent many years with relatives surname Carden in Rougemont Quebec. She visited her Uncle Jim McKenzie and his sister Mary in Montreal when they visited the market on Saturdays. With a death, birth at sea, you would expect to find records, I have been in contact with the PRO to no avail. The St.Lawrence was frozen and not able to navigate in March 1897. Have checked ships arriving in Halifax still nothing. I have found two James McKenzies with sister Mary.Need to connect these three families. Could you please advise. I have no info regarding origin or name of boat and that leaves me helpless. Thanks Burnie
