If the Patton switched from The British Army to the Cdn one, the national Archives in Ottawa would have his military records. I realize that you need to identify the right person first.
Marriage certificate for William and Mary: your previous msg indicate that his wife's name was Elisabeth Greig vs Mary. Please confirm. My Gen . society has the microfilm, I could have a look for the marriage record and make a copy from the microfilm: 25 cents per page plus postage. I will be on duty this coming Sat.
You should build a database for the Patton married in Québec. There is a certain number in a DB named BMS2000 for local use only. The data come from marriage repertories. Given that repertories have not been produced for a lot of non RC parishes, a lot of marriages are missing. There only option in that case if to go through the microfilms of the church registries. Time-consuming option but not bad if you know where to look and what period or year. Do you live in Canada?
