In Reply to: Leonard Lado Bates Service Number 59041 Canadian Expeditionary Force (CEF). by Paul Hamilton of 100377

Would love to help but the info you have given is a little brief to say the least

He maybe American, or English or Canadian even though he was in the Canadian CEF

there are lots of Leonard Bates, lots of Leonard L Bates so without knowing his age pretty hard to narrow down

checked the 1911 Canadian census
only 2 Leonard Bates, one is 8 and the other is Leonard George

so working with what you know

old enough to be in war in 1915 so born pre 1900, say he is 18-30 years old

your best bet would be to order the file ,at $.20 a page with up to 75 pages

or you could hire a researcher

or post on RAGK Random Acts of Genealogical kindness site and see if you could find a volunteer in the Ottawa area

sorry, no help
