Diane, I see just what you mean about the Corrigans. I didn't know the surname of Fred's wife and thought I had the right combination of family. I should have known it was too easy an answer.
I didn't know where to locate their marriage information either, so didn't have the name Allison. The octogenarian family recollections were that "Becky" remained in England during the war, but no records to support that. Other memories have been unclear also. She was in Birmingham at the time he enlisted in 1914. He was injured in 1917 and spent time in hospital at Nottingham Trent Bridge Hospital, and later rehabilitation.
His brother Ernest went to Canada prior to Fred's emigration and eventually left to live in California, U.S.
Now I'm left with what became of Fred and Becky after the war and where was Becky during all this?
Thank you very much for pointing out the facts, I appreciate your input. Maybe I can eventually put it all together.
