I don't know which, if any census you have for them so here are the 1870 and 1880 census from ancestry.com
1870 GRAND ISLE, ALBURG, VT
Philip, age 28, cooper, born Canada
Josephine, age 34, born Canada
Terfiel, age 4, born NY
Amelia, age 3, born NY
Maryette, age 1, born VT
1880 ALBURGH, GRAND ISLE, VT
Josephine, age 42, widowed , keeping house, born Canada parents born Canada
Theopolis, age 15, son, born NY parents born Canada
Alunia, age 13, daughter, born NY parents born Canada
Maryette, age 10, born VT parents born Canada
Edward, age 8, son, born VT parents born Canada
Charrisa, age 5, daughter, born VT parents born Canada
so Philip must have died sometime before 1880
On the same page there is a Mitchel family with husband Lewis and wife Harriet (age 35) and several children and with them is an Angeline Abear, mother-in-law - so mother to Harriet. Angeline is shows as either 72 or 92 - age hard to read but as Harriet is 35, I suspect 72 would make more sense.
BUT I also found Harriet and Lewis in 1870 and Angeline is with them and age 72 which would make her 82 in 1880 so ???
As they are on same page as Josephine and family in 1880 I thought it possible this may be Philip's sister and mother?
I found the death of Josephine at familysearch.org which shows her death as Feb. 12, 1899 Springfield, Mass - she is widowed, age 62, husband Philip Abair
There is also a death for a daughter Delmire Lavally, died Oct. 11, 1910 Chicopee, Mass, age 43, husband William W. Lavally. Her parents Philip Abair and Josephine Mayo - it shows Delmire as born Jan. 12, 1868 VT
AND a marriage for Maryette Abair, April 9, 1902, Indian Orchard, Mass. which says she was born Somerville, CT, husband J.E. Meagher, her parents Phillip Abair, and Josephine Mayo - another entry says she was born VT
AND marriage of Theophilas Abair, Sept. 19, 1887 Springfield, Mass to Louise Girard - his parents shown as Philip Abair and Josephine Mahen (so incorrect spelling of her name) a second entry for same marriage shows it taking place in Indian Orchard, Mass and a third shows it as Ludlow, Mass - all with same date
There are also births of your g-grandfather Edward March 30, 1872 VT
Thomas Abare, born July 7, 1874 VT - parents Philip Abare and Josephine
I have not found death for Philip nor for son Thomas who does not show up int he 1880 census so must have died between his birth in 1874 and 1880.
1880 would be last census for Josephine to be found as she died 1899 so missed the 1900 census year.
I haven't been able to find Angeline before 1870 - yet - but I notice there are several Abare families in Clinton Co. NY and I see there is a Philip Abair in 1860 Chazy, Clinton, NY born about 1840 NY - so birthplace wrong but it may be whoever gave the info didn't really know as he is living with a family named Aldridge - this Philip is a farm labourer -
