Family history has it that 3 Vallee brothers came from France in Lafayette's army to fight in the American Revolutionary war. After the war one went to South America, one to New England and one to Quebec. We are said to be of the Quebec line. The earliest names I have are Jean Baptist Vallee born 1797 in Saint Hyacinthe, Quebec, Canada married Claire Valin born 1806 in Canada.
Chilren:
John Frances Vallee(1825-1883)
Anthony Raymond Vallee
Kate
Marie
Agnes
Peter
Clarence
Jean was apprenticed to a man in Canada who taught him the shoe makers trade. Because there was nothing for them in St. Hyacinthe the family moved to Shirland, IL, where they farmed and the girls taught school. Later they moved to Beloit. Jean had a shoe repair shop at the northwest corner of State and Grand Ave. The girls went to Chicago. Agnes married Marc Sherwood, who was the silk buyer for Marshall Field. Marie married James Summerfield Hagerty. They were wealthy people and were socially prominent.
I have information on the John Francis Vallee line and would be happy to share, I am searching for informaion on the parents of Jean Baptist or the 3 brothers names, any help appreciated.
