Hi, The War Graves Photographic Project has been formed to integrate the work being carried out by volunteers photographing designated war graves and memorials around the world. There has never been the facility for families to be able to obtain a photograph of a loved ones grave without going via a number of organisations to obtain one. Many families have not had the chance to visit their relations grave and with the research of family history becoming a popular pastime it was felt that the time had come to record these and make them available. Over the past 4 years volunteers have been busy photographing British Forces graves but are now concentrating on Allied, Commonwealth and other nations forces. With todays technology, via digital images, it is now possible to obtain large numbers of photographs, and make these available on a website. The Aim is to photograph every war grave and memorial around the world and make these available to families and researchers and provide an archive of national importance. The project has photographed over 1 million graves and memorial names. Due to our extensive network of volunteers and images held we are now working alongside the CWGC as a joint venture to provide photographs. Any help greatfully received.
