My father, Edward Henkel, was born in Plum Coulee, Manitoba but was raised in Ashern. His parents, my grandparents, were Louie (Ludwig) and Francis (Franciska)Henkel. John (Louie's brother) and Julia Henkel and Alex and Sophia (Henkel - sister to Louie and John) Ruchotske also lived in Ashern. The families all emigrated to Winnipeg from Volhynia, Russia between 1909 and 1910. I am seeking the children of John Henkel and Sophia Ruchotske, also children of Steve Ruchotske, as they are all part of my family. I am hoping to find out what town in Volhynia the Henkel and Ruchotske families lived in and emigrated from plus any other information (birthdates, birthplace, marriage dates, etc.) I do have the book "Taming A Wilderness - a History of Ashern" but all articles about these families list only Volhynia.
John and Julia Henkel's children: Gustave Henkel, Emil Henkel, Olga (Henkel) Porteous, Matilda (Henkel) Geisler, Bert Henkel, Eleanor (Henkel) Stewart, Albert Henkel, Mary Henkel, Elsie (Henkel) Seymour, Christina Henkel, Edward Henkel, Hilda (Henkel) Mikelson, Esther (Henkel) vanCaeyzeele, Walter Henkel, Herbie Henkel, Herman Henkel, Robert Henkel.
Children of Alex and Sophia (Henkel) Ruchotski or Ruchotske are Henry, Elsie, Steve, Alvina (married Bill Hubert), Bill, Ralph, Emma.
I realize some of these people have passed on but would hope to hear from their children or grandchildren.
If you know any of these people please have them get in touch with me or send an address so I can get in touch with them. Thank you!
