Hi Ann,

Quebec Drouin Collection has the following:

Marie Justine Nicole married Charles Proux, Montmagny, Quebec Jan. 25, 1831
His parents Jacques Proux an Marie Josephte Normand
Her parents Jean Baptiste Nicole and Marie Celeste Boulet
They were married in the presence of Jean Nicole, Francois Proux, Louis Proux, Francois Cote and others not named.

Jean Baptiste Niclole and Marie Celeste Boulet were married Oct. 18, 1793 Montmagny
His parents Joseph Nicole and the deceased Genevieve Lefebre dit Boulanger
Her parents robert Boulet and Marie Renauld
in the presence of Joseph Nicole, Pierre Boulander, Louis Proux, Paul Boulet, Etienne Boulet and others not named.

I have not found Marie Justine's baptism yet

Charles Proux was baptized Aug. 21, 1801 Montmagny , born the same day - parents Jacques Proux and Josette Normand. Sponsors Louise Godreau and Marie Proux

You show Charles as dying after 1860 in Indiana - so I looked for the 1860 census and see him there with several children but no wife marie Justine - also Charles is shown born about 1810 not 1801 so are you sure he is the right fellow ??

Ok - I just looked at the image and it shows Charles as a female and a widow so could it be that this is actually not Charles but his wife who rather than being listed by her name was listed by her husband's name without the Mrs. included ??

The children listed are Charles, 27, Matilda 19, Joseph 23, Christena 28, Mary 20, Delphin 17, Delman 16, Frederick 15, Gla 13, and Zedick 11
all born in Canada

so I looked for their births in Quebec - some dates are off from the census but that is not uncommon

Joseph Casimir Proux bapt. March 18, 1836, born the same day, parents Charles Proux and Justine Nicole

Adelaide Dalvina Proux bapt. oct. 20, 1846 born the same day to Charles Prouz and Justine Nicole

Louis Lelfred Proux bapt. Dec. 8, 1844 born the same day to Charles Proux and Justine Nicole

Flavie de Lima Proux bapt. March 4, 1843, born the same day to Charles Proux and Justine Nicole

Louis Zotique Proulx bapt. Oct. 1, 1848 born the same day to Charles Proulx and Justine Nicole

Francois Xavier Godefroy Bapt. Jan. 15, 1838 born the same day to Charles Proux and Justien Nicole

his death is shown as Xavier Proulx - June 27, 1840 burial in the cemetery of this Parish the body of Xavier died the preceding day at the age of 2 years, son of Charles Proux and Justine Nicole

so many of the children in the census are found in baptisms above as well as some others not in the census.

Odd, but I found the 1850 census in Indiana for the family and the head of the family is neither Charles, nor Justine but a Christine - I wonder if for some reason Justine used that name.
This also makes me think that the daughter Justine in the baptisms above is this daughter Christine ?? seems likely

1850 JASPER, JACKSON, INDIANA
PRUE
Christine, age 45

Christine,a ge 18

Charles, age 17, farmer

Louisa, age 16

Jose age 14

Mary, age 11

Delphine age 9

Delema age 7

Frederick age 6

Glay, age 3

Zadote, age 1

all are shown born Canada
since Charles is not with them I wonder if he died during that previous 2 years - he would have been alive to father the last son age 1 year who we know was born Oct. 1848

so would Charles have died in Canada or in Indiana - if in Canada why would Justine/Christine have moved to the US ?

In 1870 Justine/Christine is living with her son Zotique in Illinois

1870 KANKAKEE, KANKAKEE, ILLINOIS, USA
PRUE
Christine, age 63, keeping house, born Canada

Zotique, age 21, clerk in store, born Canada

1880 KANKAKEE, KANKAKEE, IL
PRUE
Louise, age 46, miller, born Canada parents born Canada

Christine, age 71, widow, born Canada parents born Canada

I looked for Justine/Christine in pre-1916 deaths in IL but did not find her under PRUE/PROUX/PROULX

So then I went to after 1916 to look for her but again no luck - I only entered surname, no first name.
But after 1916 Zedick Louis shows up as died Jan. 8, 1921 Kankakee

The only thing I can think of would be for you to email the Kankakee County office and ask them if they show her death date.

Hope this is a bit of help, Carolyn L
