Louis LANDRY (dit Bouton)
Posted by: Dominique Ritchot (ID *****6638) Date: November 18, 2003 at 10:05:06
  of 1639

Married to Louise DECOSTE in the North West c. 1804/06.

Louis LANDRY's birth years are conflicting. According to many genealogies, he was born circa 1780/90 but his birth may go back to 1770/72.

There is a Louis LANDRY born in Quebec around that time :

Louis Isaac Antoine LANDRY, btp. 27 May 1772 at Yamachiche (twin brother of Antoine LANDRY). His parents are Joseph LANDRY and Madeleine DOIRON.

Louis LANDRY dit BOUTIN was an employee "voyageur" of the Hudson Bay Company.

At least two hiring contracts can be found at his name in the RAPQ (Rapport de l'Archiviste de la province de Quebec) :

2 March 1795 : Engagement (hiring) of Louis LANDRIE, of the St.Laurent ward (Montreal), to McTavish, Frobisher & Co to go to the North West (Louis Chaboillez, notary) (RAPQ, vol. 23, 1942-43, p. 346)

9 Feb. 1798 : Engagement (hiring) of Louis LANDRY, of the St.Laurent ward (Montreal), to McTavish, Frobisher & Co to go to the North West (Louis Chaboillez, notary) (RAPQ vol. 24, 1943-44, p. 340)

I found no burial or marriage record for Louis in Quebec. An interesting datas : his twin brother Antoine was buried 22 Mar. 1791 at Montreal (18 years old). Montreal was the departure point for the "voyageurs".

Any datas or comments are welcome.
