Do you know Amy Brooks who married Ivan Smith? (or her father Hugh Brooks)
Ivan-1883 & Amy Smith-1883 had 3 daughters: Verna-1909, Connie-1911 & Linda-1914 all born in Winnipeg, Manitoba …… Clyde Smith-abt.1920 was adopted? very young. I've seen a picture of him as an adult in a Naval uniform.
(I'm not quite sure how easy it would have been for a single widow to adopt a child in those days, but this is the story I grew up with)
Ivan was born in Stonewall, Man. (parents: Richard & Ellen Smith, 1 brother: Leslie, 2 sisters: Effie, Bertha & Eva)
Amy raised her children in Winnipeg after Ivan was killed in action WWI.
Does anyone happen to have knowledge of Amy other than running a boarding house? Where did she come from, and where & when did her & Ivan get married?
Amy's oldest daughter Verna & husband George Wicks became Salvation Army Officers in 1930
I'm seeking information on both Amy and Ivan & their backgrounds.
