Hi Ken,

Thanks for posting!
Here is what I have learned about my family:
James McClure and spouse Catherine (Jeffrey) along with thei children William, Richard, James, Alexander, Martha, Jane, Margaret and Catherine left Londerry Ireland around 1881 aboard the SS Circassian piloted by Capt Barrett. They went to Montreal and then west to Brandon. By 1884 James (the father) and daughter Jane had died and that spring (1885) the rest of the family moved to the west coast into Oregon and Vancouver BC. The family originally were tenant farmers in Strabane, Co. Tyrone, N.Ireland. James McClures parents: Richard McClure and Jane Buchanon, Catherine Jeffrey's parents: Alexander Jeffrey and Martha Smith. I was getting not a little help from family members I tracked down here in Oregon and Janet Nicholson in Brandon (Thanks Janet!).

So the immediate response is - no, no connection...
Yet I have to wonder why my ancestors went to Brandon in 1881, was it because they had relatives already there? I'm not sure yet.

Thanks
Terry Fish
