Terence Joseph Burt - Winnipeg
Posted by: Linda Hickey Date: March 06, 2002 at 17:41:16
  of 1701

My grandfather was Terence Joseph Burt. He was born in Woolwich England on March 14, 1860. He was married to Elizabeth Alice Hornsey and they had 14 children. Elizabeth died in Lewisham England in 1905.

Terence was a musician with the Royal Artillery. Some time between 1911 and 1913/14, he retired from the army and moved to Winnipeg. The first time I found him listed in the Winnipeg Directory is 1914 as an orchestra leader at Starland Theatre. The directories from 1915 until 1933/34, list him as a music teacher. He remarried shortly after he moved to Winnipeg to a woman named Annie. They had a daughter named Teresa who married. Her married name may have been McDonnell.

This is all I've been able to learn about him and his time in Winnipeg.

Is anyone else researching this family?
