GARLANDS....FRENCH/CANADIAN
Posted by: Judy Date: December 14, 2001 at 21:01:56
  of 1701

I'm searchng for any information I can get on the Garland surname. I have been told that my grandfather was french/canadian. His father was Edward Garland. I'm not real sure of his whereabouts in Canada. I don't know much about this side of the famiy. My grandfather died when my father was 4 so my father never knew him. That leaves me to do all the hard work of tracking the "Garland" side down.
I don't know who Edward Garland was married to ....I was told her name may have been Underwood. I have reason to believe she may have been an Indian. On my grandfathers death certificate a mother is not listed . My father (who died in 1980) was never told anthing about his grandparents.
It is a standng joke with the other family members who are also working on our roots, that it is as if this family was in the witness protection program. We can find nothing on them.
If someone out there could help ......I would greatly appreciate it.
