You say I got the wrong message, that you never meant for us to think you thought she was stupid yet in your words you said, "you must be stupid", gee, I wonder how I misunderstood that? - stupid and foolish are two completely different things, if you meant foolish then you should have said that. Yes, you can mean that another way, as you say, but you should really be careful on how you word things as they can and obviously have been taken a different way.
