I am just starting a new phase of my family research...looking at the records of other countries. A bit intimidating! Could anyone advise me? I want to use the website http://vitalstats.gov.mb.ca/Query.php to obtain a birth certificate of Joseph RYAN, b 11 April, 1902. On the website, it shows that his mother's name is Annie GUINAN--but the other fields in the website are blank. I want to make sure I get the cert for the right Joseph, with father listed as James RYAN, but the website doesn't show father's name.

First question: what did birth certs of that time (c. 1902) include? I'd like info on parents' place of birth, too, if possible.

Second question: I'm wondering if the exchange rate, plus the credit card fees for doing an international purchase, would kill me. Has anyone in the US done this, using this site? Is there a better way?

Thanks in advance for any advice!
