The Winnipeg Public Library has an"Ask a Librarian" service. See details and link at http://wpl.winnipeg.ca/library/libraryservices/eref/emailref.asp
They will look up some information in the city directories.

There is a 1906 census for some of the western provinces, including Manitoba. You can search at
