1901 Census of Kootenay East, North Riding - Division 5 - Family 9 on page 1 - Listed as being in Canterbury Village:

Hugh G. Gordon - head of household - single - born May 6, 1873 in Scotland, emigrated 1890 - Occupation: hotel keeper.

I don't think Canterbury Village exists anymore, but if it does, it will be near Winfield just north of Kelowna, British Columbia. Try contacting someone in the Okanagan region of BC and perhaps they can find out more about his hotel, etc. Good Luck, Sue.
