You might try the BC Archives “Vital Stats” Online Records Home Page:
Or the Nanaimo Family History Society – as below

The British Columbia Vital Statistics Agency is responsible for the registration of births, marriages, and deaths in British Columbia. These registrations began in 1872 after British Columbia became a province of Canada, but do include some events which took place prior to 1872 but were registered later. Birth, marriage, and death registrations contain valuable information for research in genealogy, family history, social history, sociology, and demography
Death Registration Index - Vital Events Indexes
This search gateway provides access to Vital Statistics death registration information 1872 to 1979 (events over 20 years old). Copies of the registration documents can be viewed on microfilm. Be sure to write down the registration number and microfilm number(s) for any registration documents that you intend to view on microfilm.
Please note that all inquiries regarding the registrations must be submitted to the British Columbia Vital Statistics Agency.
The engine behind this gateway is a structured database, hence its usage differs significantly from the full text retrieval searching used elsewhere at this site. You may enter search criteria into any or all of the fields. Each field has an associated search method, e.g. Match Exactly or Partial Match. You may also select a field you would like the results sorted by (in ascending order), and adjust the maximum number of matches returned.

All requests for certified copies of registrations or genealogical certificates must be sent to the British Columbia Vital Statistics Agency. Requests to the Vital Statistics Agency can be made by completing and mailing a form, or by telephone. Specify all of the information from the index for the registration requested, except the GSU microfilm number. The address is:
British Columbia Vital Statistics Agency
818 Fort Street
Victoria, British Columbia
V8W 1H8
Telephone 250-952-2681
