Obituaries are usually very helpful (if there is one). To see if there is one and to get a copy of it you will find a list of volunteers offering to do free lookups at the Random Acts of Kindness site located at: http://www.raogk.org/bcolumbia.htm

Also the volunteers there can help you locate the death registrations of the descendants of David Mark Carley (and his). You can start by going to the BC Archives online vital registration index and getting the info and then they will do free lookups. Not only of the death registrations but also their obituaries. The BC Archives Vital registration Index is located at: http://www.bcarchives.gov.bc.ca/textual/governmt/vstats/v_events.htm#indexes

I didn't spend much time looking but doing one quick query I found the following:

Name: Robert Gordon Carley
Event Date: 1973 1 13 (Yr/Mo/Day)
Age: 70
Gender: male
Event Place: Victoria
Reg. Number: 1973-09-001348
B.C. Archives Microfilm Number: B13322
GSU Microfilm Number: 2050074

When I did a search of Carley for death registrations 22 appeared - perhaps you will find some family members there.
