Posted by: Donna Oranellas (ID *****1027) Date: December 17, 2011 at 10:58:17

John Earle & Rebecca Russell second marriage for both 1871, NFLD..

Typing in Rebecca Russell, on Ancestry, someone has set up a tree, he says Rebecca Russell was first married to Henry Crane, Dec 23, 1856. St. Mathew Anglican Church, Bay Roberts, Harbour Grace.

He lists children Ann, Joseph, Henry, Stephen Albert & George Henry Crane. I was able to find births all listed on lds site.

Second marriage May 15, 1871 to John Earle. I did find this image under the church of England Bay Roberts. Looking at the marriage record it has recorded John as a widower, & Rebecca Crane as marrying on that date, she is listed as a widow.

looking at the 1891, Nova Scotia census living in Colchester, Nova Scotia. The very last person listed living with the John & Rebecca Earle, is a George Crane being 25 or 26.

1900 U.S. Census Gardner, Worcester County, Massachusetts Roll 692 ED 1626, Page 13A

Rebecca. Listed as mother age 62 born Nov.1837 she was married 43 years, she had 13 children 10 living in 1900. born in Canada .
Fanny E. sister born Dec. 1874.

If John Earle came in 1898..where was he living?? He is not in Gardner. I should check R.I.

Gardner Ma 1901 directory Earle, John rms 149 Washington --Is this the father of William & James…after all he was living with James in Gardner in 1900.

Gardner Ma 1902 directory Earle, John says rem to west… Is this the father of William & James…after all he was living with James in Gardner in 1900. Where out west??

****John Earle & Rebecca Crane Married in 1871

Notes on Elijah Russell Earle:

I also found on Canada Marriages 1661-1949 (lds) is this the same Elijah? Or is there two Eliajah’s?

Elijah Earle b. 1872, b. Nfld. Age 25, father John, mother Rebecca. bride Edna Wilcox b. 1875, b. Nfld. age 22. Parents of bride not mentioned.
In New Glasgow, Pictou, Nova Scotia. married July 17, 1897

On ancestry,

I do believe this is Rebecca Russell, because looking at the 1891, Nova Scotia census that I mentioned. The very last person listed living with the John & Rebecca Earle, is a George Crane being 25 or 26.

Also, living in Colchester NS. is a Joseph Crane & young Family, ( could this be another of Rebecca's children) his mother-in-law is with them, Susanne Earle she is a widow. The age of both Crane men are consistent with what was posted with the Crane’s on Ancestry. I tried to contact this person and the information ended up being blocked on Ancestry.

He also lists 4 of the Earle children, I had named. Not the two from Gardner Ma.

I still have no idea who John Earle was married to first and if he had a child named George that was married to a Mary or Margaret Moran. (my gggrandparents)

Another comment in the 1900 US census Rebecca said she had been married 43 years..I assumed it was to the same guy. guess not. also, between the Crane & Earles’ I have mentioned, this is now 11 children. Where the other two she was counting were they John's, from a previous marriage or all hers?

Thanks for any help sent my way,
looking for the death info, for John & Rebecca Earle and information on the Crane children.

Donna
