Grandfather, Otto SCHULTZ, is a mystery!
Would appreciate hearing from others who had miners in British Columbia 1890's to early 1900's.
Known to be working in (Bluebell Mine) Riondel, Nelson area, Princeton, and (Nickel Plate mine) Hedley, British Columbia from 1912 - 1915. Married in 1912 in Nelson, B.C.
Certificate says Otto was age 35 and born in Lobau, Germany. Father Carl SCHULTZ, Mother Anna JORKSH. (Possibly Otto was born in Magdeburg and Mother's maiden name was GUCKSH (or variation beginning with K in place of G.)
Otto SCHULTZ left 1915 from Hedley, B.C. to U. S. and was never heard from again. (Otto possibly could have gone via U.S. to Germany to fight in World War 1.)
Some other known names:
William McCULLOCH, James McAVOY, A. McLENNAN, Gus SCHWENKE.
Can anyone please help with this mystery? Thank you.
