Thanks everybody - I agree it's a bit odd, probably due to inaccurate dates. Florence was born 19-Mar-1880 in Toronto according to the birth registration and was shown aged 1 in the 1881 Census, so I'm fairly sure that's the correct year. As for the passenger list, it's typed, not handwritten, but I favour the transposing of 1931 for 1913 as Ann's brother Frederick was born in 1908. Father John enlisted in March 1914 and was sent overseas, so that fits. The only thing is that there's a handwritten note against the birth dates in the passenger list that says "24" against Ann's name, presumably indicating age - but if the typed dated was wrong, then it could be due to human error. Looks like I will have to source the death certs of the parents for clues... though I do know Frederick lived on to 1986 so there may be a obit that mentions surviving siblings.
