William Maxwell Lundy

I originally posted this request back in 2001 - still no answers so I'm running it again hoping someone new I am running out of idea's as to how to find out any information on my grandfather William Maxwell Lundy. What I do know is the following:
born: November 8, 1892 in Toronto, Ontario to William Lundy and Bessie McAlister. He had two brothers Charles Stewart Lundy born June 2, 1886 (d February 25, 1972) and Wesley Clifford born May 31, 1891.

William married my grandmother Reta Louisa Wright on April 18, 1915 in Toronto and they had one child (my dad) Stuart Maxwell Lundy born August 17, 1917. My grandmother died in 1972 and my dad died in 1998.

From family stories it appeared that after the first world war where my grandfather served as a medic or dental technician. My great grandmother had said he was "shell shocked". After the war he returned to Canada but did not resume his marriage with my grandmother. My dad tells of Christmas when they had to wait until his dad arrived (sometimes late in the day) to open his presents. But I don't believe he ever mentioned anything more about his dad that I can recall. Sometime in the 30's I believe William left Toronto and the family found out he was in B.C., he did return to Toronto once just before the WWII but did not contact my dad or grandmother.

His brother, shortly before he died, told my grandmother that William had died in a fire in the late 60's in British columbia, which has turned out not to be true.

Since beginning to research my family tree I have tried every which way to find information about my grandfather. It is not my intention of hurting anyone who may be have been connected with later in life. My dad and grandmother are both dead, but I would like this information for myself.

I have found information which I believe suggests my grandfather died in Victoria or Langford on September 11, 1969. I requested information from the Langford Library which in turn contacted a victoria newspaper who sent my his death announcement. It listed his age and date of death (no reason) and mentions that he had cousins in United States and Ontario (which is true). No other family is mentioned. His burial was handled by a Memorial Society who I have written to and who can find no information about him.

Someone out there must have known this man. Its sad to think that he died a very lonely man perhaps...was it in a fire as we had been told....did he marry again, did he have children....what did he do for a living.

If anyone has any information please contact me. As I said I have no intention of hurting anyone, I just need to know a little more about my family.
