Starting Sept. 30, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.

Katherine,
The last publically available census for Canada is the 1911 census.
However, there is a death registration for an Edward Laye which might be of interest.
Name: Edward Frank Laye
Place Vancouver
Reg. Number: 1974-09-015433
Date: 1974 10 8 (Yr/Mo/Day)
Age: 86
Event: Death
Microfilm #: B13336 (GSU # 2050340)

this registration and maybe an obit can be obtained through volunteers found by googling "random acts of genealogical kindness british columbia"
